Dr. Theo Lynn, Director

Dr. Theo Lynn is the Director of the Learning, Innovation and Knowledge Research Centre (LINK) at Dublin City University where he teaches at postgraduate level on Strategic Management. With Dr. Sam DiGangi, Dr. Lynn is the Prinicipal Investigator of the Global Grid for Learning, a Cambridge University Press initiative to connect a billion resources to education by 2018. He is also working with Dr. DiGangi on research on intergenerational and international technology usage and needs and the implications for education. With Dr. Francoise Blin, Dr. Lynn is leading an interdiscplinary research project on multi-user virtual environments; Dr. Lynn is specifically exploring the impact of virtual reality and HyperReality on brand development and management with Dr. Laurent Muzellec. Dr. Lynn's research interests include corporate governance and institutional behaviour, next generation education, and technology strategy for the digital content industry. Dr. Lynn has established and sold a number of IT companies including Enki Information Systems, Educational Multimedia Group and most recently Atomic Assets.He is a member of the European Corporate Governance Institute and the Academy of Management. He advises a number of international publishing companies.

Professor Patrick Flood, Deputy Director

Patrick Flood is Professor of Organizational Behaviour, Head of the HRM Group and a Deputy Director of the LInK Research Centre. He holds a PhD from the London School of Economics and is an alumnus of the International Teachers Programme. In 2006 he was appointed Honorary Professor at Northeastern University, China. A former Fulbright scholar, he has held faculty and visiting appointments at the Australian Graduate School of Management, London School of Economics, London Business School, University of Limerick and the University of Maryland. His research programme has attracted €1.2m in research grants. He serves as consulting Editor with the Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology. He has published several books on top teams, managing change and knowledge intensive firms. His articles appear in journals such as Human Relations, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology and the Strategic Management Journal.

Dr. Teresa Hogan, Deputy Director

Teresa Hogan is a Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at DCU Business School and a Deputy Director of the LInK Research Centre where she leads the Knowledge Intensive Firms research group. As well as venture capital, Teresa's research interests include the financing of high technology enterprises, private capital, high technology entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of university research. She is currently investigating knowledge transfer from university research centres, a project funded under the Programme for Research in Third Level Institutions (PRTLI) as part of the Irish Social Sciences Platform. She is a member of European Council of Small Business (ECSB), Gate2Growth Academic Network in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Finance and treasurer of Ireland’s Network of Teachers and Researchers in Entrepreneurship (INTRE).

Professor Denise Rousseau

Denise M. Rousseau is the H.J. Heinz II Professor of Organizational Behavior and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management and the Tepper School of Business. She is the faculty director of the Institute for Social Enterprise and Innovation and chair of Health Care Policy and Management program. She was the 2004-2005 President of the Academy of Management and the 1998-2007 Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Organizational Behavior. Rousseau received her A.B., M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley with degrees in psychology and anthropology. She has served on panels for the Institute of Medicine, National Science Foundation and the National Institute for Education. Currently she serves on the editorial boards of five scholarly journals. She was previously on the faculty of Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, the University of Michigan's Department of Psychology and Institute for Social Research, and the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey. She has been a visiting professor at the University of Leeds (UK), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), and Renmin University (China). Currently, she is an International Visiting Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management (UK). Professor Rousseau has won numerous awards for her work including winning the Academy of Management's George Terry Award for best management book twice and is an elected Fellow of numerous leading societies and associations. Professor Rousseau's research focuses upon the impact workers have on the employment relationship and the firms that employ them. It informs critical concerns such as worker well-being and career development, organizational effectiveness, the management of change, firm ownership and governance, and industrial relations.

Dr.Janine Bosak

Janine Bosak is a lecturer in Organisational Psychology at Dublin City University Business School. She holds a diploma in Psychology from the University of Mannheim (Germany) and a doctorate from the University of Bern (Switzerland). During her doctorate, Janine worked at the Northwestern University (USA) and at the University of Cambridge (UK) as a visiting research scholar. Prior to joining DCU, she was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Bern in Switzerland. Janine is a member of the Learning, Innovation and Knowledge (LInK) Research Centre and her research interests are at the interface of organisational and social psychology. Her research programme has attracted several scholarships and grants.

Dr. Finian Buckley

Dr. Finian Buckley is a Senior Lecturer in Organisational Psychology and Director of the MSc in Work & Organisational Psychology at DCU Business School. An experienced active researcher and teacher, Finian leads the Programme Development Team within the Centre for Executive Programmes at DCU Business School customising education and development solutions for client organisations. An expert in learning and innovation he has worked with a wide variety of national and international organisations on change and development programmes. His current research on trust and innovation involves working with research scientists working on the LHC at the CERN project in Switzerland. Finian is currently guiding nine doctoral students on a variety of research projects in the following areas of research interest: trust in the workplace; knowledge creation and knowledge management in scientific research settings; meta-competency development and self-regulated learning in managers and entrepreneurs; time cultures in workplace; the multiple meanings of silence at work.

Dr. Edel Conway

Dr. Edel Conway is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management at DCU Business School. She is Director of the Masters in HR Strategies Programme and is a member of the LInK Research Centre. Edel's expertise lies in the areas of human resource management and organisational psychology. Her research primarily focuses on HRM in knowledge intensive organisations, particularly in the health, financial services, software and pharmaceutical sectors. She is especially interested in employee perspectives on HRM including high commitment management and HRM in a change context. Edel is a former recipient of the European Young Psychologist Award (awarded by the European Congress of Work and Organisational Psychology) and a DCU Albert College Fellowship. She previously worked for Citibank as a HR consultant, and on the “Leading Edge” HRM project at the London Business School. Edel sits on the council of the Irish Academy of Management. She is a member of the European Association of Work and Organisational Psychology, the Irish Academy of Management, the European Academy of Management and the Psychological Society of Ireland.

Dr. Yuhui Gao

Dr. Yuhui Gao is a lecturer in Marketing at Dublin City University Business School and a member of the LInK Research Centre. Her current research interests are in the measurement of marketing performance (marketing metrics), marketing research, and firm leaders’ personal values and their relevance to marketing strategy. Yuhui received Career Start Award from Office of the Vice-President for Research, DCU in 2009. She also co-supervises PhD research in Corporate Social Responsibility with Professor Patrick Flood. She is a member of the Academy of Marketing Science, the European Marketing Academy, and the Academy of Marketing.

Dr. Brian Harney

Brian Harney is a Lecturer in HRM at DCU Business School and a member of the LInK research centre. Brian completed his PhD examining the determinants of HRM in smaller firms at the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. Prior to this Brian held a lecturing position (fixed term) at the National University of Ireland, Galway. Brian has presented his work at national and international conferences receiving a number of best paper awards, including: UCIRHRP Best Student Paper LERA Conference, Best PhD Paper Judge Business School Doctoral Conference, Best Postgraduate Paper Irish Academy of Management Conference, Best Paper Strategy as Practice Track British Academy of Management Conference and IRRA/AILR Best Paper. Brian has published in journals such as Human Resource Management Journal and Advances in Industrial and Labor Relations. He has experience in HR and strategy consulting while his commissioned work on university technology transfer was cited in the Irish Government’s Strategy for Science, Technology and Innovation and published in book format by Oak Tree Press. Brian’s current research interests include High Performance Work Systems, HRM in SMEs, University Technology Transfer and Strategic Management.

Margaret Heffernan

Margaret Heffernan is a Lecturer in HRM at DCU Business School and Programme Director of the Masters in Human Resource Management. Prior to DCU she lectured in the Department of Management at NUI Galway. She also worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Limerick from 1999-2002, managing the Irish Management Institute/University of Limerick strategic leadership research programme. This research culminated in the publication of 'Managing Knowledge based Organisations' (Blackwell, 2003), which she co-authored. Margaret is a member of the LInK research centre at DCU and a PhD student and research associate of the Centre for Innovation and Structural Change at NUI Galway. A former Irish American Partnership Scholar, she completed an M.B.S. by research at the University of Limerick. Margaret is a FAS accredited trainer and a chartered member of CIPD, committee member of the Irish Industrial Relations Association and member of the Irish Academy of Management and the Academy of Management.

Professor David Jacobson

David Jacobson is Professor of Economics and Finance at DCU Business School and a member of the LInK Research Centre. His current research interests include industrial economics, industrial agglomeration, industrial policy, political economy, and European integration. He is involved in a number of nationally and internationally funded research projects including the EU 6th FP project on Human Interaction in the Lifecycle of Aviation Systems led by Dr Nick McDonald at TCD, an examination of the evolution of networks around subsidiaries of software multinationals in Ireland, and a follow-on the PILOT (Policy and Innovation in Low Tech Industries) project with Kevin Heanue from the Rural Economy Research Centre, Atherny. His articles appear in journals such as Economic Geography, European Planning Studies, International Studies of Management and Organization, Prometheus, and Irish Geography. He is the co-author of ‘Industrial Economics and Organization: A European Perspective’ (McGraw-Hill, London), and co-editor of several books including ‘Taming the Tiger: Social Exclusion in a Globalised Ireland’ (New Island, Dublin) and ‘Low-Tech Innovation in the Knowledge Economy’ (New York, Oxford). Prof Jacobson is a member of the European Association of Evolutionary Political Economists, the American Economics Association, the Economic and Social History Society of Ireland, and the Regional Science Association International.

Dr. Melrona Kirrane

Dr. Melrona Kirrane is a Registered Psychologist (Psychological Society of Ireland), a Chartered Organizational Psychologist (British Psychological Society) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. She is a member of the Academy of Management (USA), the Irish, British and US Academies of Management, the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (USA), and the European Association of Work & Organizational Psychology. Melrona sits on the British Psychological Society Register of Competence in Psychometric Assessment.

Melrona completed her undergraduate studies at University College Dublin and was awarded her PhD in 1992 from the School of Psychology at Queen’s University Belfast. She completed another degree in HRM part-time (1994) and is finalising her Masters at UCD in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. Melrona’s particular areas of expertise include: Organizational Change & Development, Strategy & Leadership, Decision-Making, and Employee Assessment & Development. She has been Academic Director of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) for 5 years and lectures extensively on this programme in DCUBS. She is also visiting lecturer on Executive MBA programmes in a number of international universities, including Lancaster University Management School, the School of Business at The Science University of Austria and Northeastern University, Boston. She teaches on a number of other Executive Education programmes in DCUBS including: MSc in Work & Organizational Psychology and MBS in HR Strategies. Dr Kirrane is External Examiner of the University of Ulster and National College of Ireland and conducts book and article reviews for journal publication. She oversees the professional development of Organizational Psychologists throughout the country. She partners with private clients and corporate executives from time to time and draws on her experience as a senior academic to guide and advise them across a wide range of human factor initiatives. Melrona is particularly interested in Teamwork, Leadership and Organizational Change as current fields of research and she supervises the work of a number of national and international doctoral scholars in these areas. She maintains an on-going research interest in the field of Workaholism and Work-Life Balance and supervises PhD research in this field also.

Dr. Aoife McDermott

Aoife is a Lecturer in HRM at DCU Business School and a member of the LInK Research Centre. Her research interests centre on health service management. With Mary Keating (TCD) and Louise Fitzgerald (DeMontfort University, UK) Aoife has an ongoing research project funded by the Health Research Board, investigating the role of the HR function and clinical directorates in Irish hospitals. Aoife’s doctoral research was funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences and explored the implementation of service-improvement change in Irish hospitals. With co-author Mary Keating, Aoife was awarded runner-up for the Best Paper Award at the Organisational Behaviour in Healthcare Conference Sydney, 2008; with co-author David Coghlan she received the Best Paper Award from AOM Research Methods Division at International Research Methods Conference, March 2007.

Professor Kathy Monks

Kathy Monks was Professor of Human Resource Management at DCU Business School and the former founding Director of the Learning, Innovation and Knowledge (LInK) Research Centre at DCU. Kathy holds an undergraduate degree from UCD and a research Masters and doctorate from TCD. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Her research interests include human resource management systems and management learning and development. She has published in journals such as Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Journal of Management Education, and Management Learning. Kathy has served as both Chair and Secretary of the Irish Academy of Management as well as on the Council of the National Centre for Partnership and Performance. She is currently the Principal Investigator on a joint IRCHSS/ESRC funded project on knowledge intensive firms and a PRTLI IV funded project on knowledge sharing and transfer in university research centres that forms part of the Irish Social Sciences Platform (ISSP).

Dr. Laurent Muzellec

Dr. Laurent Muzellec is a lecturer in Marketing at Dublin City University Business School, Ireland. His research interests pertain to the field of strategic brand management. He regularly collaborates with Prof. Mary Lambkin (University College Dublin) and has published extensively on the topic of corporate rebranding and reputation, brand architecture strategies, and futuristic brand management models. At LInK, Laurent is working in the technology stream and is studying fictional, virtual and hyper real brands. In collaboration with Theo Lynn, he is developing the concept of brand precession as a possible method for building brand equity in both the virtual environment and the physical world. He is a member of the Reputation Institute and the European Marketing Academy (EMAC).

Ciara Nolan

Ciara Nolan is a Lecturer in HRM at DCU Business School and a member of the LInK Research Centre. Prior to joining DCU, she worked for several years in the hotel and retail industries and lectured in Management and HRM in the Dublin Institute of Technology, Cathal Brugha Street. Ciara has also worked as a HR consultant and has undertaken research with many public and private sector bodies and local authorities throughout the country. In 2005, Ciara was the recipient of a PhD scholarship under the joint auspices of the Dublin Institute of Technology and the University of Limerick. Her research aims to review, reconceptualise and extend the notion of best practice HRD within the context of small organisations in the Irish hotel industry. As a member of LInK, Ciara is part of a team that was recently successful in obtaining funding from Fáilte Ireland to conduct research on management education and development within the hospitality and tourism industry.

Professor Colm O'Gorman

Professor Colm O’Gorman is Professor of Entrepreneurship at DCU Business School and a member of the LInK Research Centre. His research focuses on the origins and growth of new firms. His research interests include measuring the level of entrepreneurial activity in Ireland. He is co-author of the annual Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) report for Ireland which measures the extent and nature of entrepreneurship in Ireland and benchmarks Ireland against other EU and OECD countries (www.gemconsortium.org). The results of this research are used by the National Competitiveness Council (www.competitiveness.ie) to measure Ireland’s competitive position. He has explored the emergence of high-tech firms in the context of cluster dynamics, including a study of the factors that lead to the rapid emergence of a software industry in Ireland during the 1990s (www.nesc.ie). He also explores how inward Foreign Direct Investment impacts on the nature and extent of entrepreneurial activity. Ireland represents a ‘natural experiment’ for such research given the very high levels of inward FDI and the targeted approach of Ireland’s entrepreneurship policy. He has investigated the barriers to the commercialisation of university-based research via entrepreneurship. Much of his research focuses on strategy in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), with a particular focus on the strategic attributes of high growth firms. Specifically he has studied the growth strategies of SMEs, the nature of managerial work in high growth SMEs, mission statements in SMEs, and internationalisation processes in INVs and in SMEs. Professor O’Gorman has published in international peer-reviewed journals such as Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, European Planning Studies, Journal of Small Business Management, Organizational Dynamics, R&D Management, Small Business Economics, and Venture Capital. He has completed several European Union research projects. Professor O’Gorman is co-author of ‘Enterprise in Action’, a text book on entrepreneurship for Irish students. He has co-authored four teaching cases studies on entrepreneurship published by the European Case Clearing House, including ‘Abrakebabra: Growing Pains in a Fast-Food Restaurant Chain’, which won the 2007 EECH case award for Entrepreneurship (www.ecch.com).

Dr. Valerio Poti

Dr. Valerio Poti is a Lecturer in Finance at DCU Business School and a member of the LInK Research Centre. He is the Chairperson of the MSc in Finance & Capital Markets program at DCU Business School, where he teaches financial engineering, risk management, investments and financial theory. He graduated in Banking and Finance at Bocconi University Milan, gained a PhD in Finance from Trinity College Dublin, and subsequently conducted post-doctoral research in the Finance department of New York University Stern Business School as an International Visiting Research Scholar. His research interests include asset pricing, performance attribution, market efficiency, behavioural finance and financial econometrics. His papers have been published or are forthcoming in International peer reviewed journals, such as the Journal of Banking and Finance and European Financial Management, and he has contributed to practitioner-oriented books on portfolio and risk management. He is an honorary adjunct professor of Financial Engineering at the University of Salento in Italy. He also engages in consulting activities on risk and performance attribution. In the past, he taught International Finance at Queen’s University Belfast and practitioners-oriented derivatives courses on executive training programs, such as the Professional MBA offered by Krems Danube University. Before moving to academia, he worked as an equity option market maker on the Milan derivatives exchange and was the head of the Financial Engineering desk of the Irish subsidiary of Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena.

Dr. Aurora Trif

Dr. Aurora Trif is a lecturer in HRM at Dublin City University Business School. Prior to this she was a Postdoctoral Newman Scholar and lecturer at University College Dublin. She also taught HRM and industrial relations at London South Bank University and Westminster University and was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies in Cologne, Germany. She is especially interested in employment relations in Eastern Europe, workplace partnership and high performance work systems, and labour migration of highly skilled workers. She is currently working on a project focusing on the outcomes of workplace partnership for employees and the management in Irish retail banking. She has been involved in several international research projects funded by the European Commission.

Dr. Angelos Alexopoulos

Angelos Alexopoulos is a postdoctoral research fellow at the LInK Research Centre. He holds a BA in European Economic Studies from Athens University of Economics and Business, an MSc in Human Resource Management from Cardiff University, and a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from DCU. His doctoral studies were co-funded by DCU and the Centre for Innovation and Structural Change (CISC) at the National University of Ireland, Galway under the PRTLI III project on high-performance work systems in Ireland. His dissertation examined the role of social relations and people management practices in knowledge flows within high-performing organisations. Angelos is currently involved in a PRTLI IV funded project examining knowledge transfer and sharing in university research centres as part of the programme of the Irish Social Sciences Platform (ISSP) on knowledge economy and society. His research interests lie in the area of knowledge management and organisational learning with a particular emphasis on the role of trust, social capital, and HRM. Angelos is a member of the Academy of Management, the Irish Academy of Management, the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management, the First International Network on Trust, the International Network for Social Network Analysis, and the Management and Organisation Development Network.

Dr. Grainne Kelly

Gráinne Kelly is an IRCHSS Postdoctoral Researcher at the Learning, Innovation and Knowledge (LInK) Research Centre, Dublin City University, Ireland. She is currently involved in the project titled ‘Knowledge-Intensive Firms in the UK and Ireland: Influences, Strategies and Skills’.Her research interests lie in the area of organisational learning and innovation. In addition she has a keen interest in the area of cross-cultural management and the intercultural adaptation processes of international assignees. She obtained first class honors in her Bachelor of Business Studies Degree and her PhD from the University of Limerick, Ireland. Her PhD research thesis is located within the area of international management and is titled “On the Value of Cognitive Sense Making Theory in Modelling the Dynamics of International Executive Repatriation”. Over the period of her doctorate at the University of Limerick, Ireland she has tutored on a wide variety of modules including Organisational Behavior and Strategic Human Resource Management. She was also a Lecturer on the Personnel Management Practice Module on the Master for SME Programme at the University of Limerick. Gráinne is a member of the Academy of Management, the Irish Academy of Management and the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management. She is also an affiliate member of the CIPD.

Diana Nadine Böhm

Diana Nadine Böhm joined DCU Business School and the LInK Research Centre as a doctoral fellow in September 2008 working under the supervision of Dr Teresa Hogan. She holds a Masters in International Business Administration from Munich Business School. As part of her Masters program, she spent one semester in European Business School Dublin and one semester in European Business School Madrid. During her postgraduate studies she underwent several internships at various companies including BMW Ireland, BMW Germany and Pirelli Germany. For the last three years she has worked as Online Sales and Operations Coordinator for Google Ireland and also as a junior project manager with Lidl GmbH Ireland. Diana’s doctoral work will evaluate the commercialisation of scientific knowledge. It will examine the factors that accelerate the rate of knowledge development and speed of knowledge transfer and also the barriers to the commercialisation process including issues related to intellectual property, licensing agreements and academic publication processes.

John Brogan

John Brogan joined DCU Business School and the LInK Research Centre as doctoral fellow in October 2008 working with Dr Finian Buckley. His research, which is funded by PRTLI IV programme on knowledge transfer and sharing in university research centres, will examine the competencies developed by taught fourth-level doctorate students. John holds a first class honours bachelor’s degree in Business and IT from the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown and a first class honours MBS in Human Resource Management from DCU. He is also a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development. His master’s dissertation examined the role of intrinsic rewards in affective organisational commitment. John’s research interests include organisational behaviour, motivation, commitment, and competency development and learning.

Aamir Chughtai

Aamir Chughtai joined DCU Business School and the LInK Research Centre as doctoral fellow in October 2006 working with Dr Finian Buckley. He holds an MBA from Punjab College of Business Administration, Lahore, Pakistan and an MA in Economics from Punjab University, Pakistan. Aamir’s research explores the role of trust in cultivating work engagement among scientists working within the context of the university research centres. More specifically, his research looks at the underlying processes through which trust in three foci, namely, top management, direct supervisor and team members and an individual’s trust propensity affects researchers’ levels of engagement with their work. It also examines the positive outcomes of work engagement for the university research centres. Aamir’s work has recently appeared in the Journal of Behavioral and Applied Management.

Tara Farrell

Tara Farrell holds a BA in English, Sociology and Politics from the National University of Ireland, Galway, an MA in European Integration from the University of Limerick and an LLM in International Human Rights Law from NUI Galway. Her background is in the Community & Voluntary sector and she has worked in the areas of enterprise and social economy development, cross border peace and reconciliation and community development. Her doctorate research, which is sponsored by McDonalds Ireland, examines the issues involved with managing diversity, and in particular the challenges and opportunities faced by employers in today's intercultural workforce.

Jason Flynn

A graduate of Waterford Institute of Technology, Jason Flynn holds a Bachelor of Business Studies specialising in Human Resource Management. Having worked in HR roles in both Waterford and Sydney, he joined DCU Business School to complete an MBS in Human Resource Management, and has since undertaken his doctoral studies with the LInK Research Centre. Jason’s project explores the nature of the social relationships affecting flows of knowledge creation and transfer across organisational boundaries between knowledge-intensive organisations that form close partnerships with university research centres. The study incorporates a case-based approach, including semi-structured interviews with key respondents, examining human resource management practices that enhance innovation. From October 2008, Jason’s doctoral research will be funded by the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS).

Na Fu joined DCU Business School and the LInK Research Centre as a doctoral fellow in November 2007, working under the supervision of Prof Patrick Flood. Her studies are funded by a scholarship from DCU. She holds a BA and Masters in Engineering from Northeastern University in China. Her doctorate project explores the impact of compensation systems on the performance of professional services firms.

Louise Gorman

Louise gained her B.A. Mod. in Chemistry from Trinity College Dublin in 2006 and her M. Sc. in Business Management from Dublin City University in 2008, having completed a dissertation on the "Influence of the Media on the Corporate Governance Practices of Irish Listed plcs". Louise was a Research Assistant on the Next Generation Management project from 2008 until 2009. She is currently studying towards her PhD on the influence of the media on corporate governance practices of Irish and UK plcs from 1988 to 2008.

Jing Liu

Jing Liu joined DCU Business School and LInK as a doctoral fellow in November 2007. Her work is co-supervised by Prof Patrick Flood and Ms Margaret Heffernan. Jing holds a Masters in Corporation Management from the School of Business Administration at Northeastern University in China. Her doctorate project examines the impact of high-performance work systems and knowledge management practices on the performance of knowledge-intensive firms. Her research interests include human resource management, knowledge management, social capital, and social networks.

Thadeus Mkamwa

Thadeus Mkamwa is a doctoral fellow at DCU Business School and LInK, working under the supervision of Prof Patrick Flood and Dr Edel Conway. He holds an MSc in General Education and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology both from Elmira College, New York, and a Sacred Theology Bachelor from the Pontifical University Urbaniana. He hails from Tanzania, and has been at St. Augustine University of Tanzania where he lectured on development studies. Thadeus’ research examines the role of high-performance work systems and diversity and equality management practices in employee and organisational outcomes such as workforce innovation and productivity, commitment, organisational citizenship behaviour, and job satisfaction. Thadeus is the recipient of the best postgraduate paper award at the 11th Irish Academy of Management Annual Conference that was held in DCU Business School in September 2008.

Kerrie O'Sullivan

Kerrie O’Sullivan joined DCU Business School and LinK as a doctoral fellow in August 2008 working with Prof Patrick Flood. She holds a B.Commerce Degree from UCC, a Postgraduate Higher Dip in Marketing and an M.B.S in Corporate Strategy and HRM both from NUI Galway, and also a Postgraduate Higher Dip in Management from IMI (Kerry Group Graduate programme). She has worked for five years in Kerry Group plc. in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, sales, management, marketing and customer services. She has also worked as a teaching assistant for two years with the University of Limerick. Kerrie’s research will focus on the behaviours of Irish leaders, and determine whether emotional intelligence is a construct which translates these behaviours into a tangible metrics for exemplary leadership activities contributing to a positive work and social context.

Quan Zhou

Quan Zhou joined DCU Business School and the LInK Research Centre as a doctoral fellow in September 2006, working under the supervision of Dr Teresa Hogan. Quan holds a BSc in Computer Science and Technology from Hangzhou Dianzi University, China and an MSc in Electronic Commerce from DCU. His research interests include: entrepreneurship, technology management and transfer in university research centres, and university spin-offs.

Neil Bruton

Neil gained his B.A. in International Business and Languages in 2008 and his MBS in Marketing in 2009, both from Dublin City University. He completed a dissertation on the "Recruitment, Selection and Evaluation of Marketing Practitioners by Political Parties in Ireland". Neil is currently supporting the 4C Initiative project with funding from Cambridge University Press and the Nominet Trust.

Kieran Linehan

Kieran graduated with a H. Dip. In Business Economics and a B.A. (Economics and Computer Science) from University College Cork.In 2009, Kieran completed his MSc in E-commerce (Business) from Dublin City University. Prior to joining LINK, he held a similar position in CLARITY, the DCU Centre for Sensor Web Technologies. Kieran specialises in social media marketing and consumer behaviour.
